Chat Now

The chatroom is meant to be a safe place to hang out and enjoy yourself while chatting about anything. When you first enter, you'll automatically join the mariowiki channel.

You are now ready to chat! You have some customization options:

• Text colors. Left-click on a color on the right to make it your text color, right-click on another color to make it your background color.
• Smilies. We have several smilies, including Mario-themed smilies. See the table below for a list of them all and the code to input to have them appear in your messages.
• Private chatting. Double-click on a user's name in the right-hand side to talk to him or her alone. It will appear in a separate tab on the bottom row.

Here are a few of the many commands you can use in the chat:

• /j #roomname – open another tab on the top row to show another room.
• /nick [nickname] – another way of changing your name
• /query [username] – a fancy way of opening a private-message tab.
• /me [blah blah] – a fancy way of referring to yourself (/me goes away results in [Username] goes away in a purple-colored font)
• /msg NickServ REGISTER [password] [email] – how to make sure no one can impersonate you. Everytime you change your nick, you must identify yourself, shown below
• /ns identify [password] – if you registered your name, this is how you enter your password
• /msg NickServ DROP [password] – if you want to unregister your nick, this is how you drop it
• /server [irc.name.org] – go to another server in the IRC world. WARNING! You will leave our chat room and go to #mariowiki on another server, which may be empty. Not recommended.

Rules

There are a few restrictions we must institute to prevent any trouble.

No flaming, cursing or being inappropiate some chatters may be young and we want them to feel safe For wiki members, do not use any other nickname on the chat but your own username, or your nickname. This includes impersonating another's username. Such action if continued may be punishable with a 24-hour ban from the chatroom and/or Wiki. No spam in any such way. This includes from saying random gibberish to repeating yourself over and over again. If a Rule is not followed a warning will be issued, If actions continue another kick will follow. If the user still breaks the rule they will be banned anywhere from One Hour-to-a Whole Day.

Operators are in place to kick or ban unruly users. These will generally be sysops and patrollers, but sometimes trusted users will be ops when few sysops or patrollers are present.
