The Crystal Coconut is an item that appears in the Donkey Kong Country cartoon; it was later integrated into the games. On the show, apparently Kaptain Skurvy's great-great-great-grandfather Quin Skurvy stole the Crystal Coconut and hid it in Inka Dinka Doo's eye. So far, Crystal Coconuts have been in two Donkey Kong games. In Donkey Kong 64, Crystal Coconuts were used as power sources for each Kong's special ability. For example, Donkey Kong's Strong Kong ability allowed him to become invincible, but used up Crystal Coconuts. They were semi-common items that could be found in most levels.
Crystal Coconuts will also be appearing in the upcoming game Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. They are a confirmed item that come out of red balloons, but at this point it is unknown what they will do.
