== Vanish Mario and emulation ==
On the bullet point about how Vanish Mario looks different in the VC version of Super Mario 64, it says:
"Vanish Mario appears purely transparent instead of flickering in dithered colors for unknown reasons.[citation needed]"
First, is the citation needed for the reasons the graphics are different, or for the fact that Vanish Mario looks different in the first place?
Second, the reasons Vanish Mario looks different are known. [http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Nintendo_64_emulators#Emulation_issues Emulation of N64 graphics] isn't accurate for various reasons: the two that wiki page mentions are imperfect approximations of how the N64 GPU displayed graphics, and the N64's use of three-point, instead of four-point bilinear filtering. Something about that could be added but it seems a little long for a single blurb in a section about SM64.
In that case it might be worth looking into why Vanish Mario looks different, I assume it's because the VC uses high-level emulation. {{User:Yosh Strider/sig}} 17:48, 16 September 2017 (EDT)

Maybe we need a different symbol from a check or a cross in the table for a future release. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 08:24, 19 July 2007 (EDT)

Good idea, but what would we use? My Bloody Valentine
That was my question. Or wait, that is what my question should have been. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 08:29, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
Lol. OK, how about a picture that says "Coming Soon" :P My Bloody Valentine

Super Mario RPG

Do we really need Super Mario RPG on the VC list? It has not came out yet anywhere. What do you guys think?

--ToadTheMushroom 14:53, 29 December 2007 (EST)

It's not even confirmed to be released, some sources have even deconfirmed it, this is unreliable. When it really comes out, it can be added again. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:41, 13 February 2008 (EST)

Should we add South Korea

Question Mark. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 17:01, 15 January 2009 (EST)

Why not? =) -- Son of Suns (talk)

Well, I think adding another two columns would make the table too big overall. Maybe we should split it somehow. I'm not really sure about the design. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:57, 16 January 2009 (EST)

Yeah - I don't think we need one column saying whether it has been released or not and then another one for the same region saying the release date. Perhaps we need to just use release dates to indicate that the game has or will be released on that date. -- Son of Suns (talk)

Date layout

I find the month/day/year layout very confusing. I always have to check the numbers to see whether it's year/month/day, day/month/year or whatever. We should use the months as full words to avoid confusion.

If this is cleared, I would start remaking the table as discussed in the above section. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 08:58, 23 January 2009 (EST)

Month names might actually be better, as we are an "international" English wiki, and different dating methods are used around the world. -- Son of Suns (talk)

Minus World in VC

Ummm... the article states that the VC version of Super Mario Bros lacks the Minus World Glitch. I was not only under the impression that it was in fact in there, but I've done it myself. Is there a more recent version that doesn't have it, or what? Sabre Knight 23:33, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

P.S.: I just checked the other pages in this wiki. Minus World says it's not in, but Super Mario Bros./Glitches says it is. Any thoughts? Sabre Knight 23:37, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

It's on the VC on the 3DS and Wii.--Thejfh1999 14:57, 27 December 2011 (EST)

Mario 64 Typo

Can someone verify that the typo at the end of SM64 has been corrected? Thanks. PoisonMushroom 16:51, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

Also, have the glitches been fixed? PoisonMushroom 16:51, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

The typo was fixed. The glitches were most likely not fixed.--Thejfh1999 14:58, 27 December 2011 (EST)

Alleyway

someone add Alleyway to the list. Lu-igi board

It's not a Mario game other than the minor reference. Mario4Ever (talk)

personally I think it should be on the list. Mario is after all controlling the paddle, meaning he is the main character.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lu-igi board (talk). Alleyway is too a Mario game. It's got its own article on here. And besides, for purposes like this, we include games like Donkey Kong Country which has no relation to Mario at all, less than a minor reference. And if you look on official Nintendo sites, they greatly express the game's relation to Mario. And Mario is the main character. A Link to the Present 16:51, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

It's a Mario game. Trust me.--Thejfh1999 14:59, 27 December 2011 (EST)

Backwards Compatibility

I got a Wii for Christmas, and it said "This Wii is not compatible with Nintendo GameCube discs and accessories," more or less. This article says that the Wii is compatible. I wouldn't argue with a box label, but I don't want to accidentally make the info contradict itself.

There's a new version released lately that doesn't support GCN games or controllers. What this has to do with the articles content is beyond me, so please take these comments onto the forums. The article is correct that GCN controllers play most of the VC games. Bop1996 (Talk)

Wii U eShop pricing

When the eShop launched, games like Super Mario World were offered at a discount if players had already purchased them from the Wii Shop Channel and transferred their data from the Wii to the Wii U. Does anyone know whether Nintendo is still doing this sort of thing with VC releases or if it was just a limited-time offer (I feel it should be mentioned in the article either way, but I want to make sure that the mention is not inaccurate)? Mario4Ever (talk) 01:15, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

Super Mario Kart is not available for the Wii U Virtual Console in Europe yet

So stop putting the release date as "20 June 2013", it's not even available in North America yet.

DS on Wii U

I've seen an announcement that DS games will be coming to the Wii U Virtual Console. However, it is not from a source I can say with absolute certainty is a credible source and they never mentioned any games that will be coming with this addition. So does this deserve a mention at all?

Some questions

Hello. I have some questions:

  • There is some way to get the Mario Kart: Super Circuit game to 3DS Virtual Console without being one consumer of Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program (I only goy my 3DS at December 2011)? If there is not, when Nintendo will go publish it to the 3DS or WiiU?
  • There is any preview of Super Mario Kart to WiiU at North America?
  • There is any preview to Gamecube games on Virtual Console?

--201.81.213.70 01:27, 12 July 2014 (EDT)

The answer is literally "No" for everything, I'm afraid. There might be hope for the second one, as you may be able to import it from your Wii, but otherwise, no. - Ninelevendo's Sig Image 03:01, 12 July 2014 (EDT)

Hello,

I used to be Wolf O'Donnell but I couldn't log in. Since I can't edit for some reason, I'd like to point out a typo.

New Mario and DK VC games need added

Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Steven Stars hits the Japanese Wii U eShop on August 5, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time has been out in PAL regions since July 16, and DK: Jungle Climber hit the JP Wii U eShop on July 8 and the NA Wii U eShop last week on July 23. Redundant sections?

While editing, I noticed a few sections about the changes made in the games in Wii U VC games were copy pasted from the changes to the Wii VC games, such as Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, and Mario Golf. Should these redundant sections be kept in if they're exactly like the Wii Virtual Console versions? Toad's sprite in Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle wow it's Kiryu (TC) 21:27, 7 April 2016 (EDT)

I'm not quite up to speed on this stuff, but if none of the Wii U releases reverted the changes to the Wii VC releases, I think a note among the lines of "All changes made to the Wii Virtual Console versions were retained unless stated otherwise" would be a better way to go around it. --Glowsquid (talk) 22:47, 7 April 2016 (EDT)

Can South Korea column be added to 3DS VC list

  1. Will the design of the table be OK if one column is added? (Former discussion (about Wii VC))
  2. The templates template:Virtual Console Top and template:Virtual Console Info are used in both 3DS VC and WiiU VC lists, while Wii U is not released in South Korea. If the column is added, the templates should be split.

odo2718 (對話) 10:33, 25 May 2016 (EDT)

Result: The layout is (probably) OK and the column is added without splitting two templates. That's all. odo2718 (對話) 10:06, 5 June 2016 (EDT)

[Wii U Game Section] Australia Release Date Problem

Can someone try to fix the problem with the Australian release dates for Wii U Virtual Console games? Its dates are not perfectly centered, they're shifted up a little bit. Thanks.
