- In the final level of World 9 in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, a group of tile blocks (pictured) appear spelling out "アリガトウ!" (Arigato!, meaning "Thank You" in Japanese).
- Hooktail was intended to appear in Minecraft as the Ender Dragon but was replaced by Gobblegut in the final version.
- When The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! aired in Korea, the live-action segments were replaced and played by Korean actors.
- The Double Cherry from Super Mario 3D World was actually the result of a mistake made by a staff member with the placement tool, which created two player Marios. The staff thought it was a good idea, and decided to put it in the game.
