Hammerhead Bros., Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

The Hammerhead Bros. are two master blacksmiths from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga who both resemble and forge Hammers. The elder brother, Sledge, is red, while his younger brother, Mallet, is green, much like Mario and Luigi. They provide Mario and Luigi with Hammers and Hammer upgrades. They are first encountered in Hoohoo Village, after Mario and Luigi's path is blocked by a rock dropped by Fawful. Mario and Luigi have to supply the Hammerhead Bros. with Hoohoo Blocks to create Hammers, which can be used to destroy the aforementioned rock. Before Mario and Luigi enter the Beanbean Overworld, the Hammerhead Bros. show up to teach them how to use their hammer in battle.

Later, the Hammerhead Bros. are visited in their new homes by Mario and Luigi after a stronger rock blocks their path to Teehee Valley. The Hammerhead Bros. gladly upgrade their hammers to Super Hammers. They upgrade their hammers once more to Ultra Hammers when Mario and Luigi are blocked by an even stronger rock towards Oho Ocean.

Trivia

  • The brothers say the slogan for the NES : "Now you're playin' with power!"
  • In the tutorial battle regarding hammer use, the battle background is of Beanbean Outskirts. At this point in the game, Mario and Luigi have not yet made it to this area, though they are about to. In the Japanese version, however, the battle background is the correct area: Hoohoo Mountain.
