For the earth, see Earth.
A world is a group of levels in a Super Mario Bros. game. In Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, each world always has exactly four levels. however starting in Super Mario Bros. 3, most games have the number of levels varie. In the 3D Mario games Worlds are no long used, now each level stands alone(but each level is sometimes referred to as a World).
