Assist Trophy is an item in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This is unique, as it will call forth a random character to assist the player who used the item. This is unique in the fact that, the character released is from an actual Nintendo series, but can't be playable. So, it will introduce characters who couldn't make the cut as playable fighters. Almost all characters that come out of the Assist Trophy will be invincible. At this moment, only four characters have been confirmed, with more to be revealed.
List of Assist Characters
Hammer Bro.
A Hammer Bro. appears on the stage and throws a hammer at opponents.
Nintendog
A giant Nintendog puppy appears in front of the television screen, blocking players' views and causing great distraction.
Samurai Goro
Samurai Goro, Captain Falcon's rival appears and slashes away at players with his katana. He is an F-Zero pilot, a Japanese-American swordsman. Samurai Goro will be invincible, as will most Assist Trophy characters, so the best solution when he is released is to run.
Dr. Wright
Dr Wright appears and attacks opponents by building large skyscrapers beneath them, sending them flying upwards. He is only in connection with the Marioverse via this appearance and his Trophy appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Trivia
The Assist Trophy works almost exactly like a Poké Ball, however, it sends out an actual character instead of a Pokémon.
