The Bristles are spiked monsters made of rock and are found in the game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. They have high defense, and if Mario tries to attack one with his hammer, he'll end up hurting himself, as a spike will pop out from the Bristle once the plumber gets near. This monster is also impervious to jump attacks and fire. The Special Moves Art Attack, Supernova, and Earth Tremor, will defeat a Bristle, as well as a POW Block or an Earthquake. Mario can even defeat them by just using Superguards.
Although Bristles have made no appearances outside of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, they were mentioned in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Before the Mario Bros. learned the Bros. Ball move, Young Toadsworth told his older self that he "looks like he has a Bristle in his britches".
