A cover art for the Mario pitch by Archie Comics.

The Archie Mario comic is a failed pitch by Archie Comics, a comic book publisher that has published other comics based on video game properties, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man. It was confirmed by writer Ian Flynn that Archie pitched a Super Mario comic book series to Nintendo, but it was rejected.[1][2] The concept art and pitch were drawn by Tracy Yardley, who has illustrated other comics. Other concepts for the Mario comic pitch, namely for covers, were done by Ben Bates, another artist who worked for Archie.

Archie also pitched Kirby[3][4][5] and Metroid[6][7][8][9] comics, also illustrated by Yardley, but they were similarly rejected.
