The Luigi Mushroom is a power-up set to appear in Super Mario Maker. Upon use, Mario will turn taller and slimmer and gain the abilities of Luigi, with higher jumps but lower traction. According to Takashi Tezuka, the form came from a bug that happened in development that made Super Mario skinny. It looks similar to a normal Mushroom with a short cap and a very thin base. It cannot be placed into a level. Instead, it randomly spawns from Question Blocks with Super Mushrooms placed inside. A Super Mushroom can't overwrite the effect of this mushroom,[1] but they can fuse together.[2]
