- This special move's name is a reference to the scientific theory about the initial conditions of the universe, also known as the Big Bang.
- Additionally, Big Bang is the name of a similar attack in Square Enix's Final Fantasy games. It is used by Zeromus, and can deal a large amount of damage to everyone in the player's party. This is one of many allusions to the Final Fantasy series in Super Mario RPG, as Square developed the game alongside Nintendo.
