- Goombella's tattle information on Hayzee (pictured) is a reference to the Disney animated films Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty.
- Super Mario 3D World first and only 3D Mario platformer in which Princess Peach is playable and not kidnapped, as well as the second Super Mario game after Super Mario Bros. 2 and the fourth platformer overall after her own game and Super Paper Mario.
- Baby Rosalina and Baby Daisy are the only baby versions of characters introduced so far that are not Star Children, as well as the only baby versions of characters to be introduced in a Mario Kart game.
- In the race track Rainbow Road (N64) in Mario Kart 8, most parts of Toad's Turnpike and Toad Harbor can be seen below the course.
