Template:Articleabout A Cannon is an hazard in the Mario Kart series. It is quite rare, as it don't appear in all games and in only a minority of tracks per game. It launch racers into parts of the track at very fast speed, or allows them to reach places that normally can't. It appears in different forms, but it usually have a Boost Pad before it.
Mario Kart 64
In this game, Cannons don't appear properly, but some Boost Pads have a similar effect. They appear in two tracks.
Royal Raceway
A Cannon appears near the half of the track, on the bridge. Covers a long gap and the player should land on the path near Princess Peach's Castle.
DK's Jungle Parkway
The other Cannon hazard-like appeared in DK's Jungle Parkway, at the start after a long turn. The racers then lands near the jungle part.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Cannons make their first proper appearance in this game, appearing in two tracks.
DK Mountain
Appears after a long turn to the left, launching players to the top of the mountain.
Rainbow Road
The Rainbow Road of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! features an unique vertical Cannon, leading from the bottom to the top.
Mario Kart DS
Cannons return in Mario Kart DS, once more appearing twice.
Waluigi Pinball
Right after the racer starts, they go into a pinball tunnel to reach the flipper. The cannon is placed purely aesthetic, to reflect more a real flipper.
Airship Fortress
The Cannon is found at the end of the airship. It appears like a Cannon Pipe, and shoots the racers to the fortress.
Mario Kart Wii
In Mario Kart Wii, Cannons are a bit more frequent, as they appear in three Nitro courses and two Retro courses (DK Mountain and DK's Jungle Parkway).
DK Summit
The Cannon appears after the first turn, leading to the snowboard track.
Maple Treeway
Once more the Cannon is at the start, leading to the giant maple.
Rainbow Road
The Cannon of this Rainbow Road appears right in the middle, ending the first section and starting the second.
Mario Kart 7
Since this game introduces gliding, the use of Cannons is less frequent, but they still appear in three Retro courses. From this game onward, racers use the glide after entering in a cannon. The retro tracks where a Cannon appear are Airship Fortress, Waluigi Pinball and Maple Treeway.
Mario Kart 8
Mario Kart 8 uses again Cannons frequently and is the first Mario Kart game to add a Cannon to a retro track (Yoshi Valley). Royal Raceway reappears in this game.
Sweet Sweet Canyon
Sweet Sweet Canyon features a Cannon in the tunnel, leading to the top of the canyon.
Cloudtop Cruise
The Cannon is placed at the top of the Airship, once more resembling a Cannon Pipe. It leads to the antigravity part.
Rainbow Road
This Rainbow Road features a Cannon at the end of the space station. There are two paths that leads to two different sections.
N64 Yoshi Valley
This Cannon is reached by going all right. It appears only in Mario Kart 8, but not in Mario Kart 64.
