The Thwomp Orb first appeared in Mario Party 6, where players could only place it on a space as a roadblock (and costs ten coins at the Orb Shop). Opponents that passed a space contaning the orb got crushed by Thwomp, ending their turn. In Mario Party 7, it was used again for the same purpose; it just looked like a Thwomp Trap, which seems to be the modern look for regular Thwomps nowadays.
