Useful strategies for using this move include:
* There are always 3, and only 3, poison mushrooms in the entire move. If you notice 3 poison mushrooms have passed, feel free to tap the stick right as much as you can, since no more can come.
* Even at any time, it is much more dangerous to press the control stick when the cursor is pointing upwards. Because you cannot see where the stars will hit when they are above the screen, you may hit a poison shroom and not even know it. In essence, to get the maximum benefit from this move, the player must smack the control stick right as fast as he can when the cursor is below roughly 40 degrees of the azimuth, and slow down when it is above this elevation.
