- Super Mario 3D Land (pictured) is the only 3D Super Mario title in which Mario/Luigi cannot perform Triple Jump.
- In Paper Mario, the only boss who can flee from the battle is Tubba Blubba's Heart.
- Manta Ray won't appear in Dire, Dire Docks unless the player has completed Bowser in the Fire Sea.
- Shuri name is possibly derived from the throwing weapon the shuriken, which incidentally resembles a star.
- Vanish Mario in Super Mario 64 can walk through ice while Vanish Luigi in remake cannot, also Luigi can pass through walls and cages vertically or horizontally while Mario can only do it horizontally.
