Trivia
- When matching two Bowser or Bowser Jr. panels, the small riff from Super Mario 64 when trying to open a door in the castle without enough Stars or a key is heard.
- If the player gets a perfect score, the fanfare when returning to the castle after obtaining a Power Star also from Super Mario 64 is heard.
- This minigame is similar to the match card game from Super Mario Bros. 3.
- Patterns are shown from house to house; it is possible to predict the location of a certain item or villain.
- If playing with two players or more, the player can steal his or her turn by doing a ground pound on the player with the turn.
- Each world has six unique layouts, with at least two "safe spots" for the entire world. By revealing the safe spots and consulting a reference guide, it is possible to deduce which layout is being used.
