Polar Extreme is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. It is a pun on the children's book, The Polar Express.
Introduction
The camera shows the ship at the end. Then, it switches to the players' position.
Gameplay
The competitors must jump on breakable ice chunks which shift under their weight to reach the ship first or survive longest. If the player falls in the water, he or she will be temporally frozen before returning to the platform. The player loses if he or she falls behind the scrolling screen. Some Penguins are found on some chunks as obstacles, stunning any player that touches them.
