Mario playing the mini-game Power-Up Panels.

Power-Up Panels is a mini-game found in every red Toad House from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It takes place in a room with a six by three grid of panels decorated with question marks. The back side of each has an image of an item, Bowser, or Bowser Jr. Players must take turns climbing around the fence and punching the panels, causing them to flip and reveal their backsides. However, if two Bowser images or two Bowser Jr. images are matched, the game ends. Additionally, if all item panels are revealed, the game ends. At the end of the game, players receive one item for every set of two identical panels with revealed faces.

  • This mini-game is similar to the match card game from Super Mario Bros. 3.
  • Patterns are shown from house to house; it is possible to predict the location of a certain item or villain.
  • If playing with two players or more, the player can steal his/her turn by doing a ground pound on the player with the turn.
  • Each world has six unique layouts, with at least two "safe spots" for the entire world. By revealing the safe spots and consulting a reference guide, it is possible to deduce which layout is being used.
