Monkeys are allies of Mario in the game Donkey Kong on the Game Boy. They first appear in stage 4-3 in the Jungle. Monkeys have a long tail that Mario can use like a regular vertical rope. He can climb on it use it to cross gaps. Touching monkeys does not hurt him.
