Undersea Dream in the Party Mode of Mario Party 5.

Undersea Dream in Mario Party 5 is a board map from the Dream Depot. It was created from dreams of the ocean. Resembling a coral reef, such as those found in Isle Delfino’s Gelato Beach, the board is divided into two sections connected by bridges. Noteworthy features are the sunken ship, the whale, and the tiny shops set up by Cheep-Cheeps. However, unlike in Gelato Beach, human characters, Yoshi, Toad, Boo, Bowser, and Koopa Kid could breathe and walk normally underwater in the dream. If a player lands on the Happening Space on the sunken ship, a dolphin swims out and forcefully takes the player to another part of the board. Landing on the Happening Space next to the whale allows players to be blasted to a space nearer to the Star. The Happening Space next to the Cheep-Cheep on the right-side reef let players get a chance to earn a Capsule or an old boot from one of the shells. Finally, the Happening Spaces next to the logs on either side of the board gave players a chance to ride a manta to the other side of the board, and collect coins along the way.

In Story Mode, Bowser and Koopa Kid attempted to take over Undersea Dream. But when the player (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, Daisy, or Waluigi) came to stop them, Bowser made Koopa Kid do the fighting for him. Koopa Kid then split into 3 Koopa Kids: Red K. Kid, Green K. Kid, and Blue K. Kid. But the player defeated all three of them, and they turned back into the one Koopa Kid. He and Bowser escaped to cause trouble in another dream. This battle took place on a simplified version of Undersea Dream.

Trivia

  • Air bubbles are shown coming out of the characters occasionally.
  • Strangly enough, the rudder of the sunken ship is still moving, as if it was avoiding an object, just like the Titanic.
