Template:Articleabout The Mushroom Kingdom is the largest known kingdom in the Mushroom World. Under the rule of the Toadstools, the Kingdom has enjoyed and endured both a utopian and traumatic existence. The former is largely attributed to the Toadstools ability to rule and the general good-natured feeling that permeates Mushroom society. The latter is largely attributed to the Koopa Troop, a group of turtles who reign over the badlands known as the Koopa Kingdom, and their dictator, Bowser. Many feel that Grass Land in Super Mario Bros. 3 is or is part of the Kingdom.
Government
A monarchy, the Mushroom Kingdom is ruled by the Toadstool family. Currently, the ruler in power is Princess Peach Toadstool. While King Toadstool’s role in the government has never been official confirmed in the video games, many feel he was seen in Super Mario Bros. 3 as the king of Grass Land. However, it is possible that either during the Shroob attack in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time or during Bowser’s attack in Super Mario Bros. he was slain or fled the kingdom. Princess Peach often turns to the Mushroom Chancellor for advice and has previously gave him temporary control over the Kingdom.
The Kingdom’s capital is at Toad Town, a town also known simply as the Mushroom Kingdom. Here, Princess Peach resides in a castle that is commonly referred to as Princess Peach's Castle. As such, it is unclear if it was built under the rule of the Princess or if it has existed for years prior. The castle interior and exterior have changed drastically over time.
Princess Peach keeps a hoard of Toads guards at her castle, but there is not much evidence of a military presence controlled by the Toadstools. However, Mario, Luigi, and countless other heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom have fought to save it and its princess countless times before, and show no signs of stopping the trend.
Demographics
The Mushroom Kingdom’s population is very vast, consisting of hundreds of species. Most prevalent are Toads, Koopas, Goombas, and Boos. Even though Princess Peach is human, there are very few humans living in the Mushroom Kingdom.
While racism is not much of a problem in the Kingdom, species tend to separate themselves into different areas. For example, Toad Town’s population is almost entirely made up of Toads and Shiver City is inhabited by many Bumpties and few others.

In Video Games and Television
In Super Mario Bros. (movie)
In the Mario Bros. movie, it was very different from what it looked it the games. It was Brooklyn but run down and surrounded by a massive desert. The ruler was also, Princess Daisy and not Peach. It was also called Dinohatten instead of Mushroom Kingdom.
Super Mario Bros.
This was the first video game where the Mushroom Kingdom was shown.
Super Mario 64
In this game we only get to see a little part of the game and that is Princes Peach's Castle and her garden. It is unknown if all the Painting Worlds Mario jumped into, were part of the Mushroom Kingdom, or just worlds that Bowser made.
