A Huckit Crab throwing a sand ball at Mario.

Huckit Crabs are a species of crabs that appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They appear only in two stages of the World 4, which are found in large quantities. A Huckit Crab consists of a shell, two yellow feet and only one claw that it uses to attack the sand balls. They also have an endless supply of sand balls.

Their goal is to hit Mario and his company with balls made of sand. They can be defeated the same ways as a common enemy; jumping on its head, freezing them with a Ice Flower or wearing a Penguin Suit, attacking a fireball on it with a Fire Flower or by running into it with a Starman. The sand balls can also be defeated, but only with a jump on it, because ice balls and fireballs will be unaffected. They behave very simililarly to Spikes.

Trivia

  • Clawgrip, the boss of World 5 in Super Mario Bros. 2, may have been an inspiration for this enemy. Like Clawgrip, it also has a resemblance to the original Sidesteppers from Mario Bros.
  • Their name is a pun on "hermit crab" (the crab species they resemble), and the term "chuck it", as they throw sand balls.
