“We're not just ninjas- we're also the stars of Mystical Ninja Elementary's upcoming school play!”
Kat and Ana, WarioWare: Touched!

Kat and Ana are major human characters in the WarioWare series. They are ninjas and twin sisters who reside at their house in a park of Diamond City. The sisters love the nature very much, especially animals and flowers. They attend both the Diamond Kindergarten and the Mystical Ninja Elementary. Kat and Ana first appeared in WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania as two of Wario's friends who helped him produce microgames.

History

WarioWare series

WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania

First of all, Kat and Ana could be seen in the intro of WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, where they were called by Wario to join his "company" WarioWare, Inc. and to produce microgames for his upcoming game. Like Wario's other friends in Diamond City, Kat and Ana agreed.

Scene from the prologue of Kat & Ana: Boneheads standing on the roof of the Castle has possessed the prince and has also caught Ana.
The evil spirit Boneheads has possessed the prince and also caught Ana.

In their own story, an evil skeleton spirit called Boneheads appeared over the Castle in Diamond City at night. He took possession of the princess or prince who slept under the roof. In order to stop him, Ana appeared along with her crew consisting of five other ninjas. They attacked the spirit, but he easily defeated all of them with his two long swords. Only Ana could still effect something, but she failed as well. Because she hadn't a chance against Boneheads, she assigned her animal friend Don the Sparrow to carry a letter with the message "Ninja girl! Save me!" to her sister Kat to call for help. After Don left, Boneheads also caught Ana who was captivated with a rope then.

Kat resided with Shadow the Dog (then known as Paw the Dog) at an unknown place which seemed to be far away from Diamond City. When Don arrived, he dropped the letter in front of Kat. Shortly after she read the message, Kat and Shadow headed for Diamond City. On their way, they walked across various Japanese looking landscapes.

When Kat and Shadow arrived, they already faced Boneheads at the entrance of the Castle who floated up to the roof again. Kat and Shadow made through the many floors of the castle and eventually reached the roof where Boneheads waited for them. Kat fought hard, but she couldn't defeat Boneheads with her normal sword. So Shadow joined the fight and transformed into a giant sword. With the new weapon, Kat could finally defeat Boneheads after some effective slices. Boneheads degraded bit by bit. The princess or prince was delivered from Boneheads' influence and Kat freed Ana by cutting the rope with that she was captivated. At the end of the adventure, Kat, Ana and their two animal friends along with the princess or prince being happy could be seen in front of the Castle.

In an unlockable mini-game called Jump Forever in WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, Kat and Ana swing the rope that Wario has to jump. In the unlockable mini-game taken from Mario Paint, Fly Swatter, the Bob-omb appearing in the congratulations sequence has been replaced by Kat.

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!

In WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!, Kat and Ana performed in a television show called Super Show after 9-Volt's entrance. Under the headline "Karate", the sisters showed their ninja skills. However, it isn't known what happened next because Wario's television set burst.

Kat and Ana are two of the ten selectable characters in the multiplayer games in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!.

WarioWare: Twisted!

In WarioWare: Twisted!, Kat and Ana went on a field trip with their kindergarten class on the Diamond Knoll. Their animals, Shadow the Dog and Shuriken the Falcon, came along with them. The teacher instructed the children not to bunk. During the trip, Ana discovered a beautiful flower. While Kat continued to walk, Ana and the two animal buddies stopped at the flower. Ana decided to show the flower to her sister and ran after her. However, Kat damaged a beehive with a stick when Ana arrived. The bees got angry so the sisters had to escape from the swarm. They could abscond into a wooden cabin and rested there for a moment.

However, they weren't alone. Kat and Ana encountered the Diamond Troll. Without that the Troll did something against them, Kat and Ana quickly changed to their ninja clothes and attacked him with their swords. Then they charged their swords and were out to send out some kind of sword beam at the Diamond Troll. Shortly before they could attack, Shadow and Shuriken crashed right into the cabin and hit the ceiling. Then they fell down on the Diamond Troll and all three were knocked out. Kat and Ana were speechless for a moment.

After these events, Kat and Ana decided to go back, but after they opened the door of the cabin, the swarm of bees reappeared. All four friends, Kat, Ana, Shadow and Shuriken, escaped from the swarm in front of the sunset.

In Wario-Man's story, the alien Orbulon gave Kat, Ana, Mona, 9-Volt and 18-Volt a flight in his spaceship. All five humans sat on seats behind Orbulon.

WarioWare: Touched!

Scene from the prologue of Kat & Ana: Upper screen: The banana thief Numchuck the Monkey on the roof of Kat & Ana's House. Lower screen: Ana is shocked because her bananas are missing.
Kat and Ana spot the thievish monkey.

Ana and Shadow stayed in Kat and Ana's house in WarioWare: Touched!. Ana wanted to eat bananas and so she opened the door to the room where the bananas should lie on a dish. However, she only found the food missing. Shocked by that, Ana hectically searched the fruits in every corner of the room. During this, Shadow noticed animal tracks in the house. He advised Ana of the tracks by barking. Ana also saw the tracks now and so she decided to follow the thief and got the idea to write a note for her sister so that Kat could join later. Then Ana and Shadow went out of the house and ran after the thief. Kat joined them along with Shuriken after she read Ana's note.

They eventually found the thief, who turned out to be a small monkey. First, Kat and Ana were shocked, then they were charmed by the monkey's cute appearance and gave him the name Numchuck. They happily lifted the monkey up an down and the little thievery was quickly forgotten.

WarioWare: Smooth Moves

Scene from the prologue of Kat & Ana: Kat and Ana come to the Diamond Dojo's rescue because the Elephant Ogre appeared.
Kat and Ana come to the Diamond Dojo's rescue.

In WarioWare: Smooth Moves, the giant red Elephant Ogre came to the Diamond Dojo and stood in front of it at night. The concerned Sensei in the Dojo faced the monstrous being who suddenly let out a piercing shriek. Quickly, the ninja sisters Kat and Ana came to the Dojo's rescue. Ana got inside the Dojo to reach the Sensei. When she arrived, she saw the Li'l Ogre annoying the Sensei and yanking his hair. Outside, Kat messed with the Elephant Ogre. She activated her clone powers and five Kats seemed to appear simultaneously, all of them attacking the giant with their swords. The Elephant Ogre's club and Kat's sword pressed each other, but then the Li'l Ogre shouted to stop the fight.

Scene from the epilogue of Kat & Ana: The Elephant Ogre leaves with the assumed Li'l Ogre on his hand (who is actually Ana).
The Elephant Ogre leaves with the assumed Li'l Ogre on his hand.

It turned out that the Elephant Ogre had just searched for the Li'l Ogre, probably his child. With the Li'l Ogre on his hand, the Elephant Ogre peaceably left during the sunrise. Kat waved to say goodbye, but she suddenly noticed that the actual Li'l Ogre where still there. The being on the Elephant Ogre's hand was Ana, whose silhouette looked very much like the Li'l Ogre. She desperately waved with her arms and cried.

Kat and Ana also worked as editors of Wario's one-shot news paper "The Weekly Wario". They wrote about rumors about the Form Baton.

WarioWare: Snapped!

In WarioWare: Snapped!, Kat and Ana ran the newly opened Wario Park along with Wario, Mona, and Jimmy T..

WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase

In WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase, Kat and Ana have their very own stage called "Kat and Ana's Sky Patrol". In this stage, they jumped off a cliff first only to fly above the sky using yellow capes in a style similar to Cape Mario. They were accompanied by birds (to denote the player's four "chances" for the stage).

Super Smash Bros. series

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, both Kat and Ana appear as stickers and together on a trophy. In addition, they appear as Assist Trophy characters that fly across the stage and slash people with their swords.

Personality and Powers

Kat and Ana are often depicted of possessing surprising powers: they have been seen "cloning" themselves, jumping higher than the average human can, and defeating enemies more than twice their size when working as a team. Many of these powers are classic ninja powers. Despite this, they are also displayed as quite naive (or at least Kat). Kat acts bossy which sometimes results in making Ana cry, but Kat cares deeply for her. Kat is very fond of animals. Ana is quieter and more careful than her sister. She loves flowers very much. It is unknown how they became friends with Wario.

Microgames

Kat and Ana come with an own set of microgames in all games of the WarioWare series.

For WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, Kat and Ana created microgames of the Nature genre. All games involve animals or plants or both. WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$! does also feature Kat and Ana's nature microgames, plus a multiplayer game made by them, Wobbly Bobbly, which involves animals as well, namely turtles.

Since WarioWare: Twisted!, Kat and Ana's microgames involve a particular style of gameplay rather than a specific visual theme. In this game, their set of microgames is called Tap Out and requires to press only the A button.

In WarioWare: Touched!, the name of Kat and Ana's set of microgames is Ninja Scribble and involves scribbling and drawing with the Stylus.

In WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Kat and Ana's set of microgames involves the forms The Remote Control, The Sketch Artist, The Chauffeur and The Samurai.

Kat and Ana's five microgames in WarioWare: Snapped! require two players to play rather than one. After the end of their stage, photo's of the two players with silly decorations are shown. In Jimmy's stage, a comic strip of the ninja sisters can be shown. In this comic, they have a fighting practice.

In WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase, Kat and Ana return to their original role and host a new set of Nature themed microgames again. Unlike the original WarioWare with featured microgames about animals and flowers, the microgames in this set for the game are limited to only animals.
