This is a complete list of Mario Kart Wii Competitions (Tournaments in America) that have been held on the Mario Kart Channel so far. Two competitions are held each month, starting in May of 2008. The first competition of each month lasts from the 1st to the 10th of that month, and the last, lasts from the 15th until the 25th.
2008 competitions
May 2008 Competition 1 – The first Competition was a Grand Prix-styled race on Mario Circuit with Chain Chomps running loose on the track, along with extra Goombas roaming around. | |
May 2008 Competition 2 – Wii-Wheel Only – This Competition took place on GBA Battle Course 3. The player had to drive through ten numbered gates that were placed on the track in order. | |
June 2008 Competition 1 – This Competition was set on Galaxy Arena/Colosseum, which is a stage unique to the Competition. On it, the player had to defeat four Spiky Topmen by knocking them off of the platform using Mushrooms. | |
June 2008 Competition 2 – Karts Only – This Competition took place on Mushroom Gorge. The player had to get the fastest possible time; however, the player had to drive backwards for the entire course. The mushroom platforms were also placed at different locations. | |
July 2008 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Coconut Mall. The player had to collect all 50 coins in the least time possible. | |
July 2008 Competition 2 – Wii-Wheel Only – This Competition took place on DS Twilight House. The battle course had a finish line included for this Competition. It was a VS race against other CPU players around the rooms of the house, and the player would have to win after five laps. | |
August 2008 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on N64 DK's Jungle Parkway. The player had to race against Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, who were constantly throwing bananas on the track. The only items available were Green Shells, Triple Green Shells, and occasionally a Star. | |
August 2008 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on Koopa Cape. The player had to drive through all 25 gates in order. | |
September 2008 Competition 1 – Wii-Wheel Only – This Competition took place on N64 Skyscraper. The battle included a finish line for this Competition. Players had to finish in the least time possible. Colliding with Bob-Omb Cars would lead to time lost. | |

October 2008 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Thwomp Desert. The player had to use Bob-ombs to defeat the giant Pokey, who attacked by throwing segments of its body at the player. | |
October 2008 Competition 2 – Wii-Wheel Only and Karts Only – This Competition took place on Luigi Circuit. The player had to race CPUs, but there were no items for this Competition. | |
November 2008 Competition 1 – This tournament took place on Maple Treeway. The player had to collect all fifteen coins that were hidden in the leaves in the least time possible. Four Wigglers were roaming the area for this Competition. | |
November 2008 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on N64 Mario Raceway. The player had to finish the course in the least time possible. Only Golden Mushrooms would appear in Item Boxes. Many obstacles from other race courses also appeared in this Competition. Obstacles include oil from SNES Mario Circuit 3 and Pokeys from Dry Dry Ruins and DS Desert Hills. Additionally, extra Piranha Plants were on the course as well. | |
December 2008 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Wario's Gold Mine. The player had to get past a rampaging Wiggler that was roaming around the course within 3 laps. Only Triple Mushrooms and Stars would appear in Item Boxes. | |

2009 Competitions
January 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Toad's Factory. The player would have to drive through the course, which was backwards, as quickly as possible. Item Boxes contained Mushrooms. | |
January 2009 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on Funky Stadium. The player had to collect all 60 coins on the track. All Item Boxes contained Mushrooms. | |
February 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Block Plaza. It was a time trial race around the edge of the course. Some of the paths were blocked, so the player had to use the slopes to proceed. The player is given Triple Mushrooms to start the Time Trial, and obstacles include Goombas, pipes, and oil. | |
February 2009 Competition 2 – Karts Only – This Competition took place on GBA Bowser Castle 3. The player had to go through all 30 gates placed in various locations along the course.

March 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on SNES Battle Course 4. The player had to collect all 50 coins in the area. Extra hazards such as oil were on the course. | |
March 2009 Competition 2 – Karts Only – This Competition took place on N64 Bowser's Castle. The player had to race against Dry Bowser, who was given the ability to spit out fireballs. Items that appeared include Mushrooms, Triple Banana Peels, Stars, and Triple Green Shells. | |
April 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on GCN Waluigi Stadium. The player had to race through all 25 gates placed around the course. | |
April 2009 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on DS Peach Gardens. This time trial race added additional Chain Chomps and Monty Moles, and all Item Boxes contain Mushrooms. | |
May 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Luigi Circuit during a sunset (like in the game credits). It was a VS race in which the player had to avoid the Bob-omb Cars. | |
May 2009 Competition 2 – Wii-Wheel Only – This Competition took place on Chain Chomp Roulette. The player had to collect all 100 coins while avoiding the Incoming Chomp. Item Boxes contained Mushrooms, Mega Mushrooms and Stars. | |
June 2009 Competition 1 – Karts Only – This Competition took place on Grumble Volcano. It was a time trial race around the course backwards. The player started out with a set of Triple Mushrooms. | |
June 2009 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on Galaxy Arena/Colosseum. The player had to push all six Spiked Topmen off the stage. However, as time progressed, portions of the stage fell off. All item boxes contained Triple Mushrooms. | |
July 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on GCN Peach Beach. The player had to collect all 70 coins that were scattered on the beach. Cataquacks also appeared, and the Item Boxes contained Green Shells. | |
July 2009 Competition 2 – Wii-Wheel Only – This Competition took place on DS Yoshi Falls. It was a VS Race, but mushrooms from Mushroom Gorge appeared in the course. | |
August 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place at GBA Shy Guy Beach. The player had to go up against a swarm of Sidesteppers and defeat 30 of them. The left item box contained Stars. The center item box contained Triple Green Shells. The right item box contained Bob-ombs. | |
August 2009 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on Wii Bowser's Castle. It was a time trial race containing several hazards, such as Swooper swarms, more lava springs, and scattered boxes. Thwomps were also placed at different spots, preferably spots that were more likely to hinder the player. The spinning firebars also moved faster than before. The player started out with a set of Triple Mushrooms. | |
September 2009 Competition 1 – Bikes Only – This Competition took place on GCN Cookie Land. The player faced off against the four baby characters in a 5-lap race. The official description said that "Branching paths are the key to the contest!" | |

October 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on GCN Mario Circuit. It was a time trial race with additional enemies, mostly Piranha Plants, which were placed on the road. There was only one Item Box, which contained a Mushroom. The player didn't start with any items. | |
October 2009 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on Daisy Circuit. The player had to go through a total of 22 gates, which were placed around the figure-8 area of the track. A single Mushroom was placed around the starting area. | |
November 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Dry Dry Ruins. It was a VS Race, in which all Item Boxes contained mushroom items; Mushrooms, Triple Mushrooms, Golden Mushrooms, and Mega Mushrooms. Also, some Pokeys were added on some of the usable shortcuts. | |
November 2009 Competition 2 – Karts Only – This Competition took place on Rainbow Road. The player had to race 3 laps, while avoiding the Chain Chomps and Incoming Chomps. The player started the race with a set of Triple Mushrooms. The official description stated, "Anticipating their movements and avoiding them is the key to a good score." | |
December 2009 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on DS Desert Hills. Using items from the Item Boxes, racers had to defeat a total of 10 Pokeys, which were wandering around the course, just as they did in one of the Mario Kart DS missions. The first and third set of Item Boxes contained Stars, while the second set contained Triple Green Shells. | |
December 2009 Competition 2 – This Competition took place on N64 DK's Jungle Parkway. The objective was exactly the same as August 2008's 1st Competition. |
2010 Competitions
January 2010 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on Delfino Pier. It was a time trial race, where as time progressed, new paths opened up. The water level rose slowly along the way. Goombas also appeared on the track. Item Boxes contained Green Shells and Mushrooms. The player didn't start with any items. | |
January 2010 Competition 2 – Wii-Wheel Only – This Competition took place on GCN DK Mountain. The player had to pass through 20 gates, and the bridge was replaced with two red mushrooms from Mushroom Gorge. | |
February 2010 Competition 1 – This Competition took place on N64 Sherbet Land. It was a GP race, with more penguins, and some boxes were also added onto the track. | |
February 2010 Competition 2 – Karts Only – This Competition will take place on Mario Circuit. The player must defeat a certain number of Goombas using only Stars and Green Shells. |
