Shifting Sand Land is the eighth course appearing in Super Mario 64. It is a desert that centers around a pyramid housing the fearsome boss Eyerok. A cap-stealing vulture named Klepto flies around the perimeter. It is the eighth course in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. There are several quick-sand pits, and a large pit of quicksand surrounding the pyramid and the Tox Box maze. The outside area is the first part of the level, the second part is inside the pyramid.

Shifting Sand Land was renamed Shifting Sands to appear as a golf course in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.

This level and Snowman's Land are the only levels that have walls as portals.
