Later, Pam Matteson, having heard Luigi's plan to try and call Ike by using dog calls, asked him if he believed his plan would actually work. Reassuring Pam Matteson, Luigi quoted the book he was holding, "Hanson's Guide to Doggie Dialogue", saying that if he could replicate the noise Ike's breed of dog made, he could make Ike come running to Mario Brothers Plumbing. Before he tried to call Ike though, Luigi decided to test his dog calling, only to succeed in making the noise of a sheep and a pig instead of a dog.

Claiming that there was something wrong with his throat, Luigi began to try and clear it as Mario asked Pam Matteson what kind of dog Ike was anyway. After learning this from Pam Matteson, Mario asked Luigi if he could call mixed dogs like Ike, to which Luigi replied that he was unsure. Deciding to call Ike anyways, Luigi made an extremely bizarre noise which, surprisingly, managed to lure Ike to Mario Brothers Plumbing.
