Eggberts appeared in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. They would ocassionally be spit out by Birdo, in place of normal Birdo Eggs. Eggberts would explode on contact and could be deflected by defending. Once an Eggbert was deflected, it could be attacked. If an Eggbert was defeated, it would explode and cause heavy damage to Birdo. They would simply run into a character and explode if left unharmed. Eggberts have high attack power, but can be defeated by the weakest of attacks. Their abilities resemble those of Bob-ombs in the Paper Mario games.
