Mario finds a Star Switch, which he can press down to summon a Star.
A Star Switch is an item that appears only in Super Mario 64 DS. As it's name implies, it is a star-shaped switch with a ! on it, and if the player steps on it, a Power Star will appear in the Star Sphere, hidden somewhere in the level. The Power Star will only last for ten seconds before it disappears entirely.
