In battle Betarino has three attacks. The first, is sticking out it's tongue in hopes of eating one of the heroic plumbers. The way it's eyes point is a sign about who it shall attack. This attack can be countered by jumping. The next, is wrapping it's tongue around Yellow Star, then throwing her in the air in an attempt to hit Mario or [[Luigi]].This is countered by a hammer swing. Finally, Betarino gets ejected into the air by Bowser's flame breath, and drifts down towards either Mario or Luigi. This can be jumped over causing no harm. - Betarino has a smaller version which is similar in appearance, called, Petarino. It is unknown, however, if they are relatives.
