Burn is a status ailment found in the Mario & Luigi series and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. If a frozen character is burned, both status ailments are negated.

Mario & Luigi series
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Using his Fire Bros. attack, Mario can sometimes Burn enemies, making them lose some HP every turn, similar to Poison. A small flame floating above the enemy indicates the condition.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
The Burn status ailment returned in this game with a more dire consequence — if a character is burned, that character will lose some HP every turn and will not be able to attack or dodge. Burn is indicated with the character visibly on fire.
Paper Mario series
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
In this game, Burns again behave much the same way as Poison, that is, the character or enemy burned will lose one HP every turn for a number of turns. Burn is indicated by a small flame at the afflicted's feet.
Vivian is capable of inflicting Burns on enemies.
