One day, last year, I did that... and something bad happened. Up in the right corner, right where the R button is located, the screen came off the right side! Now, the bottom right part of the top screen was NOT connected to the top right part of the bottom screen. Despite this, the DS worked perfectly, but the R button wasn't working. When it the right part came off, wires were visible. :( It took about half a bottle of glue to put it back together. But, due to the glue, the R button could not be pressed down, so I was limited to some games. Now, the glue is still visible, teh R button works, and the DS still worked. I've noticed some other articles (counting the one I did for Leon Powalski) that are also considered minor. However, they were never removed.
