World 5-A is the first bonus level of World 5, in New Super Mario Bros. It can be unlocked by spending five Star Coins.

Layout

This level has Stretch Shrooms. Mario must time his jumps, because not all of the platforms move at the same time as each other. After the midway point, Mario can get the first Star Coin by going down to a Stretch Shroom. He needs to hit a ! Switch to return. Just after that, Mario should find a single block. If he hits it by running and jumping, a vine pops out, taking him to an area with the second Star Coin. The player should later see two Mushroom Platforms that are able to touch each other. Mario should stand in between them and jump when they shrink, getting the last Star Coin. Then, Mario reaches the pole.

Star Coins

	Mario should go to the Stretch Shroom near the red ! Switch. After it expands, he can quickly grab the first Star Coin located to the right.
	After hitting the block by either running and jumping or with a Koopa shell, Mario can climb the vine and collect the second Star Coin.
	Right after the Stretch Shrooms near the pole contract, Mario should land on a lower Stretch Shroom to get the final Star Coin.
