MarioWiki:Proposals

Proposals can be new features (such as an extension), removal of a previously added feature that has tired out, or new policies that must be approved via consensus before any action(s) are done. Any user can support or oppose, but must have a strong reason for doing so, not, e.g., "I like this idea!" "Vote" periods last for one week. All past proposals are archived. A proposal section works like a discussion page: comments are brought up and replied to using indents (colons, such as : or ::::) and all edits are signed using the code {{user|User name}}. Signing with the signature code ~~~(~) is not allowed due to technical issues. How To Actions that users feel are appropriate to have community approval first can be added by anyone, but they must have a strong argument. Users then vote and discuss on the issue during that week. The "deadline" for the proposal is one week from posting at: Monday to Thursday: 17:00 (5pm) Friday and Saturday: 20:00 (8pm) Sunday: 15:00 (3pm) Every vote should have a reason accompanying it. At any time a vote may be rejected if at least three active users believe the vote truly has no merit or was cast in bad faith. However, there must be strong reasons supporting the invalidation. "# " should be added under the last vote of each support/oppose section to show another blank line. Any proposal that has three votes or less at deadline will automatically be listed as "NO QUORUM." The original proposer then has the option to relist said proposal to generate more discussion. All proposals are archived. The original proposer must take action accordingly if the outcome of the proposal dictates it. If it requires the help of a sysop, the proposer can ask for that help. There are two topics that cannot be decided on through a proposal: the first is sysop promotions and demotions, which are decided by Bureaucrats. Secondly, no proposals calling for the creation of Banjo and Conker articles are allowed (several proposals supporting them have failed in recent history). The times are in EDT, and are set so that the user is more likely to be online at those times (after work/school, weekend nights). If a proposal is added on Saturday night at 11:59 PM EDT, the deadline is the next Saturday night at 8:00 PM. If it is a minute later, the deadline is a day plus 15 hours (Sunday), as opposed to a day minus 4 hours. CURRENTLY: 08:02, 13 January 2025 (EDT) New Features No proposal at the moment. Removals None at the moment. Splits & Merges Species from Adventure Mode In Melee Okay, as many of you already know, we merged the Subspace Emissary enemies in to one article. But I noticed recently that the enemies from Adventure mode in Melee, such as Like Like, Octorok, Redead, Polar Bear, and others still have articles by themselves. I propose these should all be merged into one article, followed by their trophy descrpition, similar to the Subspace Emissary article. Those enemy articles virtually have nothing to do with Mario, and are likely not worthy enough of having their own articles. Palkia47 (talk) I agree with this proposal, but i tihnk we should also get rid of minor stage-hazard like Tingle or Ultimate chimera (Or whatever the heck it's spell) Blitzwing (talk) Palkia: I haven't decided what the article name would be, but I guess something like "List of Adventure Mode Enemies" or something along those lines. Blitz: Those articles should probably be merged with the stage themselves. (Though Tingle has a different role in Brawl than he does in Melee). Garlic Man (talk) Removal/Merging of non-Mario articles This sort of follows up on my Melee enemies proposal. I noticed articles like Leon Powalski, Mei Ling, Otacon, Colonel Roy Campbell, etc, of articles that have nothing to do with Mario himself, but rather created from interest of the Super Smash Bros. Series. Those characters never interact with Mario in any of his games, nor do they affect them. I say they should either be completely removed, or Merged into their respective Stage/Character articles (Character meaning Snake, Fox, etc. Stage meaning, Lylat Cruise, Shadow Moses Island, etc.) Those articles make it seem like Super Smash Bros. is secondary importance or something. Oppose Comments Changes Catch Card Locations As I ran across the List of Catch Cards page, I noticed that the locations of the catch cards are not listed whatsoever. I found this rather...disappointing. So here's what I propose: Add an additional brief description as to the location of each catch card. This would include city (i.e. Lineland), if one must flip or enter a pipe to reach the card, and perhaps the chapter in which it is located to the List of Catch Cards article. I'd also like to note that I do not know the locations of really any catch cards, so I will need help from some other, more experienced Super Paper Mario players. Thanks in advance for whoever helps. Mr. Br Mario (talk) - I'd really love to have such information, mainly because I have friends who play Super Paper Mario, and if they'd like to take their time in searching for the Catch Cards (I would like to), I'm pretty sure they'd be more than happy to have this kind of information, as would all the collectible-lovers who play Super Paper Mario. And I'd love to help build this up. For example, Watchitt's Catch Card can be found by blowing up a wall in the very room where you got Boomer, and then flip to 3D to find it on the other side. This is just a preview of what kind of help I could offer... Mariomaster43 (talk)-Yeah that's a really good idea i want super paper mario but i don't have it yet but i want so i toatally support 150% :) Oppose Phoenix Rider (talk) As I stated on the Catch Card discussion page, the majority of Catch Cards must be purchased, and even then, the location list would really just become a list of enemy locations, which can be found at each enemy's respective page. Garlic Man (talk) Per Phoenix, as yes, many(if not most) must be bought or taken from enemies. I actually don't really find the locations necessary, as this wiki is not a game guide. KingNess700 (talk) I believe that not revealing the locations of catch cards on the internet leaves still some challenge to the player to truly complete the game as opposed to a step by step guide on them. If players want that, they can buy the players guide. Comments Per Dom and Pheonix. Although helpful, the repetitive occurrence of many of the cards may be a bother. Perhaps we can make it work, by displaying the locations of the cards that are NOT obtainable by a Catch Card? Furthermore, almost every obtainable card in the game may also be bought in a Card Shop respectively. Honestly, I believe this may just confuse some people, but it has potential of working. Just keep in mind that the repetition for over 90% of the cards may state something similar to this: Title; Lineland, Catch Card, Card Shop. Ominous (talk) I do see your point. However, it really doesn't have to be all that complicated. For example, the page would look somewhat like this. It's really quite basic; just a minor adjustment to the wiki-coding and it turns out like in my example. The place a card can be found that's not a shop or by using a Catch Card? - Walkazo (talk) "Chapter 0-0" represents which chapter the player will find the catch card in, (i.e. chapter 7-3). "City-Name" is self-explanatory. As for the third location (marked "Catch Card SP") – if I'm not mistaken, any common enemy can be caught with a Catch Card SP. In return, I believe at a various time, any card can be purchased at a shop – that's why I didn't add "shop" to the location list. Stooben Rooben (talk) Mhmm, Stooben has obviously shown a way that this can work. Is it possible that in the explanatory paragraph before the chart shown, we can simply state something similar to; "Almost every card [excluding boss and character cards] may be collected by a Catch Card or may be bought at at a Card shop." This will clear confusion and repetition. This also leaves the apparent space for the editor to list the cards that are found during gameplay. -Ominous (talk) I think that could work. Good thinking. Stooben Rooben (talk) I think "shop" should actually be added because some cards cannot be caught with a catch card like Bonechill, but can be bought and at the same found with a map/in the wild. And what will you do with the Gnaw card, it's technically part of the "shop" section under Flint (? What's his name ?)the merchand's inventory. Dustof DryBones (talk) Dustof DryBones: I still agree with Ominous here; his statement, if placed at the top of the article, would prevent mass repetition. As for the Gnaw Card, I do not know. I have not collected the card yet; but, if it is in the merchant's inventory, I still think it would fall under "shop", and would require a location listing. KingNess700: Many articles in this wiki contain spoilers, such as SSBB, MKWii, PM:TTYD, etc. Because of this, and the fact that not everyone wants to see the spoilers, {{Spoiler}} was created. Thus, I do not entirely feel you vote is valid; I do however see your point. Stooben Rooben (talk) Trophy Locations I was reading the page of trophy descriptions for Super Smash Bros Brawl and noticed that the page lacks of locations of the trophies. I was in need of finding a few and hoped the page would help. It was rather discouraging to find no trophy locations at all. My proposal is that we add the necessary locations of each trophy, such as which challenge to complete, if it needs to be hit by a trophy stand in the SSE, if it just has to be found in coin launcher, etc. I don't wish to make this a complete guide, just a simple description of how to get a certain trophy. Well only a few have got locations, you get some by doing certain things, and others with the Trophy Stand, so is merely useless. Garlic Man (talk) - One of the big reasons I'm against this, is because it has nothing to do with the Mario series. I mean, if this proposal gets passed, some will feel the urgency to put Sticker locations as well, and that really doesn't help back up The Importance Policy. Cobold (talk) - The Mario Wiki isn't a game guide. Get some official guide or go to GameFAQs for that. Comments Tanukkitails: I'm saying to put that they're found randomly on stages, or the SSE, or etc. I'm not saying put "this trophy can be found on......" I mean to say is to put "trophy is SSE" or "Found in coin launcher" and etc. Luigi001 (talk) Tucayo:It is not useless! There are many trophies that can be unlocked via certain things, like completing challenges, playing certain things with specific characters, etc. It will actually prove more of of a use than you think. Do you mean make a page titles something like "List of trophy locations in SSBB?" Luigi001 (talk) - Considering that most of them are random when found in the SSE mode, without set locations, this seems a bit pointless, but I suppose you could write on the page a paragraph explaining this randomness issue, but with the ones that have set ways of being obtained - their means can definitely be added. It suppose at the top we could put "most trophies are found in coin launcher, SSE randomly, etc." But then we put what trophies need if they are under a challenge, how or what to do. I do think a few make good points for opposing, I still think this proposal is worth a shot. I don't want to make this a guide, but what I mean is note somewhere on the page that most trophies are found at random, but also put what challenge to complete if a trophy is unlocked via one. And I have no idea how the matter of stickers came up, because, while from the same game, are mainly unrealated. Basically, I'm saying put what challenge to complete to get a trophy, and for the others just note somewhere on the page that they are found at random.
