Sand current (also known as speedy sand)[1] are rapidly flowing sand that can push the player.

History

Super Mario series

Super Mario 64 / Super Mario 64 DS

Sand currents debut in Super Mario 64, where it only appears inside of the pyramid in Shifting Sand Land. It can push Mario off the platform if he stands on it.

Super Mario Galaxy

In Super Mario Galaxy, it appears in Dusty Dune Galaxy. There are three planets that have sand currents. It can push Mario into obstacles like Cactuses.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, it appears in Slipsand Galaxy. It can push Mario into a Fire Chain or it can be used as a slope.
