World 2-2 is the second level of World 2 from Super Mario Bros. Special and the sixth level overall. It is the first underwater level in the game, and is very similar to World 2-2 from Super Mario Bros. It also has a secret underground area.
Layout[edit]
The level starts with a Warp Pipe that Mario must enter to go underwater. Once there, the player will have to pass by two Bloobers and three Cheep Cheeps. Afterwards, they will have to swim through a small stair and between two walls, finding two more Bloobers in the process. Afterwards, three more Cheep Cheeps are found, though they can be skipped by entering a pipe near the fourth Blooper, which will lead Mario to a secret underground area with three Goombas and a bunch of useful items. Course designer Ichirou Sakurada's initials are located in a wall at the end of the secret area. Regardless of the path the player takes, they will have to encounter one last Bloober, pass by two pillars that have Warp Pipes on them as a decoration, and encounter six Cheep Cheeps before reaching two pipes, both of which will take Mario to a Hard Block staircase and the Flag Pole.
