Gordos[1] are marine enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They are violet with light-blue fins and have a round, flattened body, making them similar to coral reef fish. They also bear a frowning mouth.
Gordos swim passively and slowly, either from side to side or in circles. Bumping into one causes it to make a twirling movement and damage the Kongs. They are tougher than Finleys, requiring three Corkscrew attacks or three cane swipes from Cranky Kong to defeat them.
Gordos mostly inhabit marine environments, such as those of Lost Mangroves and Sea Breeze Cove. However, a small number of them appear floating in mid-air in the Rocket Rails stage, where they once again act as obstacles for the Kongs, who ride in a Mine Cart. While in the Mine Cart, the Kongs can defeat a Gordo with a single stomp or by simply crashing into it, though the latter will also damage them.
