It flies out a ways but then drops down with gravity. You can actually charge it up and use it like [[Samus Aran|Samus]]' charge shot. To use it once charged you press down b later when you want to fire it. Once you shoot it the top remains in the game for a while. You or your opponents can pick it back up and use it like a weapon or throw it again. Until a fired top disappears you can't shoot out another one.
