Template:Minigame-infobox Saucer Swarm is a Battle and Duel minigame in Mario Party 8, as well as a single-player minigame in Test for the Best.
Introduction
A large flying saucer is seen overhead, releasing many smaller flying saucers from underneath it. As the camera zooms down, the first player is shown riding a laser blaster as the aliens touch down on the ground in front of them. The screen then splits to reveal all players.
Gameplay
The many small flying saucer-like aliens are trying to home in on the players' blasters and attack, so the players must shoot them to keep them at bay. Each flying saucer alien the player shoots is worth a point. An additional golden flying saucer alien who floats around erratically in the background is worth two points if shot. If an alien gets too close to the player, the latter is electrocuted and momentarily stunned. Whichever player(s) shoot(s) the most flying saucers win(s).
Note: If both players get the same score in the Duel variant that breaks the current record, it counts as a New Record even though neither player won. This also applies to the other Duel minigames with a record system, such as Swing Kings.
Ending
The winning player(s) perform(s) (a) victory dance(s), and the other player(s) soon find(s) themselves being abducted by aliens. The winner(s) then watch(es) the spaceship fly off. It is possible that no one loses, in which case no one will be abducted. In case of no one scoring or both players tying in the Duel variant, all the players are abducted by the alien spaceship.
