The Sand Spiral Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy is a large barrel with a rapid sand river. This galaxy has many Boos, and Bats. It is the only galaxy (aside from Grand Finale Galaxy) which features Toads besides the Toad Brigade.

Way to unlock

To unlock this galaxy, Mario must beat the star "Faster Than A Speeding Penguin" in the "Sea Slide Galaxy." Once Mario does so, a Hungry Luma will appear, Mario feeds the Luma, and the way to the Sand Spiral Galaxy is revealed.

Missions

Choosing a Favorite Snack

The goal in the level is to get through a tunnel filled with quicksand. The player starts at a broken airship, and, after the Magikoopa on board it warps ahead to the tunnel itself, Mario can take a Launch Star over to the main area. Here he has the choice of becoming Boo Mario or Bee Mario. Boo Mario can float infinitely over the quicksand but must watch out for the Boos and the spotlights. Bee Mario will have an easier time avoiding the enemies, but cannot fly infinitely and must make landings on certain sections.

Once Mario exits the tunnel, he will be launched out the other end of the tunnel to a small area, where can get a Rainbow Star to become invincible and jump across rotating platforms to the moon in the center, where the Power Star awaits.

The Magikoopa in the beginning of the level will pursue Mario for most of the stage unless he is defeated. He moves too fast for Mario to catch; the player must use Star Bits to stun him before he can be destroyed.
