The Paratroopa Wing, or P-Wing for short, is an item found in Super Mario Bros. 3 that allows Mario or Luigi to fly in the air for unlimited amount of time. However, if the brothers are hit while flying, they will lose the power of the P-Wing. Additionally, the effects of the P-Wing only last for one level. After that, the brothers are left with the basic Super Leaf abilities. The first P-Wing recieved in the game is enclosed in a letter from Princess Toadstool given to Mario after defeating the first Airship.
