==Re: Microgames Category== | |||
Hi again, I've had a look and it shouldn't really be used on any at all- the other Microgame categories (i.e. WarioWare Gold Microgames, WarioWare: Twisted Microgames) are subcategories of the overall Microgame one, and therefore any Microgames in those are included under the category, so adding it again would be redundant. The two that are simply in the Microgames category are exceptions, as 1, 2, ROBOT! would go into a WarioWare: D. I. Y. Showcase Microgames category, but as there aren't enough yet to warrant its creation, it stays under the generic one for now, and the other is a one-off Super Smash Bros. one that theoretically would go into a Super Smash Bros. Microgames category, but it's not a necessary category and therefore stays under the default. Also, it's a good idea to add [[Template:Talk]] to discussions like that, as while it isn't a guaranteed solution, it does help bring issues to attention faster and make them a little more obvious- just adding it as is relies on someone seeing it in recent changes or on a watchlist, but that also adds it to a category that people keep an eye on. I hope that makes sense, I know I said Microgame a lot, but if it doesn't, let me know and I can ty to clarify it for you. RE: Thanks for fixing that!
I just replaced the quote template with a similar one, {{quote2}}. This allows pipe linking (as in, linking to a page while displaying something different) and additional descriptions. 12:15, September 26, 2019 (EDT)

What was that vandalism for? -- FanOfYoshi 12:22, October 13, 2019 (EDT)
What vandalism? Did I do something? If I did, I guess roll it back, but I dont know what you're talking about. Mad Hunter (talk) 16:32, October 13, 2019 (EDT)
Ohh… I Have no idea about that. I didn't do that, I swear! Why would I? Mad Hunter (talk) 16:36, October 13, 2019 (EDT)
- As should be clear by now, Hunter simply made a mistake - though they did also overreact with their proposal right after, the fact remains that bad faith shouldn't be presumed where "incompetence" (or, more specifically, user error) is a much likelier explanation. -- Lord G. matters. 08:50, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
My proposal Idea wasn't to block proposals from being made, but to block archives from being edited. I'm not so sure how that would work out though. Mad Hunter (talk) 09:05, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Except in said overreaction, you missed that it wasn't an archive page you edited (which we have several of, already maintained by regular uses and admins alike), but an older revision of the current page. Locking either page would have been pointlessly obstructive, especially when the simpler solution is to pay a bit more mind to what you're editing. -- Lord G. matters. 09:36, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Also, the main proposal archives are already full-protected (except the current one, archive 54). I do agree that, since protecting only old revisions is impossible, fully protecting the proposal page would inevitably end up completely destroying the point of a proposal (why even have a proposal on the main proposals page when only admins can vote anyway?). TheDarkStar 10:05, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
Huh. How was I even able to edit that anyway if the archives were protected? Mad Hunter (talk) 10:10, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Old revisions are not proposal archives. Archives are stuff like this. TheDarkStar 10:14, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
Ok. Mad Hunter (talk) 10:21, October 23, 2019 (EDT)
How articles are written
I'll try not to be too harsh here, but I think I really need to get through to you on this. Firstly, we don't use the word "you" when talking about the player, we instead say "the player" or the playable character depending on what's best for the situation. This wiki is supposed to be written like an encyclopedia rather than a strategy guide. Secondly, remember to use italics when typing game titles. Look at editing pages to see how it's done. Lastly, when pluralising certain things, you can do it like this: "Car]]s" which is how they're normally done and saves time. Other than that, it's great that you're trying to be helpful on here, we just need you to comply with these things too. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 07:40, October 28, 2019 (EDT)
I would highly suggest going over MarioWiki:Manual of Style. Mario JC 08:21, October 28, 2019 (EDT)
Wow, It's nice to have so much attention, even if it was for something I did wrong. Anyway, thanks for reminding me of that, I'm constantly forgetting it. It was way worse when I edited stuff on the terraria wiki and wrote stuff like: "I Prefer to use the Minishark, but some people use the Musket" You could say I wasn't the best writer on there. Mad Hunter (talk) 13:49, October 28, 2019 (EDT)
The navigation templates you created are redundant as the existing game-specific navigation templates already on the microgame pages already group them by stage/character. Mario JC 06:16, January 5, 2020 (EST)
If that is so, why didn't you delete them? And did you take back what you said when you crossed it out? And by the way, I disagree. the existing templates group microgames by game, not by stage. The reason I wanted to make this was that I wanted to have a quick list of all a characters minigames. If it would help me, I'm positive it would help someone else. Mad Hunter (talk) 13:18, January 5, 2020 (EST)
Wait, never mind, I didn't see the most recent change summery where you crossed it out. Mad Hunter (talk) 13:31, January 5, 2020 (EST)
Keep in mind though that by creating navigation templates, they need to be included on the microgame pages, otherwise they're pointless. Mario JC 20:22, January 16, 2020 (EST)
I'm embarrassed to ask, but how? I couldn't find how to put a template on a page on it's help page. Mad Hunter (talk) 15:06, January 17, 2020 (EST)
- So for Template:Ashley's Microgames, you type {{Ashley's Microgames}} above the category links at the bottom of the page, but it should go above the game-specific navigation template already on the page (this is what it'd look like on Don't Blow It, for example:)
{{Ashley's Microgames}} {{WarioWare: Touched! Microgames}} [[Category:WarioWare: Touched! Microgames]]

Thanks! Mad Hunter (talk) 13:44, January 18, 2020 (EST)
Make sure to mark such edits as minor as well by ticking the "This is a minor edit" checkbox. Mario JC 05:56, January 19, 2020 (EST)
I remember Making a template about 5-Volt's microgames about a month ago, and saying that I didn't know if it should exist. but I dont know if I even created it, because when I look through my contributions, there is nothing that eludes to this page's creation or existence. Was this a special block from an admin, or should I make this Template? Mad Hunter (talk) 14:11, January 25, 2020 (EST)
- Please wait for an answer next time, message an admin directly if you need to so we see the question, before recreating the template. It was deleted in the first place because it's a subject that is only in one game, so everything about it is already covered at Template:WWG Microgames. 15:14, January 27, 2020 (EST)
Talk pages
Please don't create talk pages for the sole purpose of saying "I saved too early". That just uses up server space unnecessarily. Just use edit summaries (my personal terminology is STE, or Saved Too Early) in such cases. Thanks! TheDarkStar 13:58, January 5, 2020 (EST)
Re: Got the Chops
Hi, I can't see anything protection-wise on it, so I couldn't immediately say what the issue was. If you can tell me what it is you were trying to ad though, that may have been the cause of it, and if not, it seems to be letting me edit the page so I could add it in for you if that works. BBQ Turtle (talk) 12:16, January 29, 2020 (EST)
I was adding this: Template:Mona's Microgames It's a template I made, and I have been adding it to her microgames. I know, I have done a lot of edits using only that, and I thought that was the cause of the spam filter, but when I tried other pages after that by typing in the exact same thing, it had no objections. Mad Hunter (talk) 12:19, January 29, 2020 (EST)
- Weird, it's doing the same thing for me. I'll ask about it. BBQ Turtle (talk) 12:28, January 29, 2020 (EST)
Thanks! Mad Hunter (talk) 12:32, January 29, 2020 (EST)
