Vaporware is a term for games that are announced on which development is started but, for a possible variety of reasons, were never published. Following is a list of Mario vaporware.
- Super Mario's Wacky Worlds, Due to CD-i's drop in popularity – CD-i
- Super Mario FX, an early attempt at a 3D Mario game canceled due to system limitations – Super Nintendo
- VB Mario Land, which was not completed before the Virtual Boy failed – Virtual Boy
- Super Mario 64 2, lack of progress and failure of 64DD – Nintendo 64DD
- Super Mario 128, an experimental demo, of which some elements were used in Super Mario Galaxy. More dramatically, it served as a basis for the game Pikmin. – Gamecube
- Diddy Kong Pilot, Not finished before Rare joined Microsoft in 2002 – Gameboy Advance
