Princess Peach's Toad in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Toad in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Toad is Peach's standard special move in the Super Smash Bros. series and Daisy's standard special move in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Either princess pulls out a Toad and hold him out in front of her to use as a shield and counterattack. If Toad gets attacked, he will counterattack. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Toad absorbs any attack and sends it back to the opponent. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Toad releases mushroom spores if attacked. While Peach pulls out Toad, Daisy pulls out Blue Toad.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Peach can alter Toad in one of two custom variants, provided they are unlocked first. Sleepy Toad puts opponents to sleep. Grumpy Toad immediately releases spores that deal less damage rather than being a counter move.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the move has completely new aesthetics. Peach now ducks down covering her ears with a terrified expression and turns away, while Toad angrily spreading his arms in front of her on his own when the move is used. If hit, Toad will retaliate with a spray of spores, and Peach will wince.
