Writing
Please stop writing with poor grammar on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
You are neglecting the advice given to you here; please abide by the writing guidelines policy, or else a warning will be issued. Another thing when writing: try to avoid including coincidences and obvious information in trivia sections like what you wrote here, here, here, and here. According to MarioWiki:Trivia:
The Super Mario Wiki allows users to expand articles with all the information they can get, and they usually create trivia sections to add interesting information that does not fit in with the general content. However, this method is discouraged because trivia sections have been overused. They often become cluttered with large amounts of information that can actually be placed in the main content ("Summary" or "History" sections mostly), or simply removed because such information is already mentioned in the main content, or takes the form of speculation, opinion pieces, or otherwise irrelevant factoids. Any information within a trivia section should also be strictly relevant to the article it appears on. For example, miscellaneous information about a character's appearance in a game would best belong on that character's respective page - not the game's page.
Please keep this in mind when editing in the future. Thanks! (T|C) 02:31, 30 January 2019 (EST)
- Also, please don't forget to italicize game titles like what Mario jc already reminded you for previously. (T|C) 02:39, 30 January 2019 (EST)
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (continuting to add worthless trivia) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site. If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Two of your edits have ignored the advice about adding trivia. The former trivia you added doesn't need to be stated because both the Fake Item Box and Fake Smash Ball are decoy objects that damage or stun players that touch them. The latter trivia you added is also redundant to the page's "Names in other languages" section. Please keep the above advice in mind, otherwise a last warning will be issued. Re-adding edits
A few things:
- Don't assume every character is a "he". If it's something like Mechawiggler or Dharkon whose gender is unconfirmed, use "it".
- There's no need to substitute the character's name (or "it" when referring to said character) with descriptions of the character (e.g. calling Giant Sockop a "sac"); this goes against some of the points outlined in MarioWiki:Good writing. Simply "Phanto sported a very solemn demeanor [...]" or "It sported a very solemn demeanor [...]" is perfectly fine.
- Avoid adding Category:Deceased Characters to characters that are simply "defeated". Admittedly the category could use some cleaning up, but the intention behind it is to list the characters we know to have actually passed on (Wrinkly Kong, for example), not every boss that disappears in an explosion or puff of smoke and isn't seen again.
Most importantly: If you see an edit you made that isn't there anymore, it may have been reverted. If that happens, please check the history page first (the link is found at the top of the page labelled "history"). Don't continuously add the information back in after it's already been reverted, otherwise this counts as edit warring. Mario JC 23:17, 4 February 2019 (EST)
Parenthesised phrases
Just FYI, bracketed phrases added between information isn't done like this:
Bowser (This time wearing a tuxedo.) returns in Super Mario Odyssey.
It should be lowercase without the full stop, unless it's a separate sentence of its own:
Bowser (this time wearing a tuxedo) returns in Super Mario Odyssey.
or
Bowsee returns in Super Mario Odyssey. (This time, he is wearing a tuxedo.)

Last warning
Template:Lastwarn Since your previous warning, you're still cluttering articles up with obvious and useless trivia like this and "trivia" that would be better off (or have already been) added to the main content, as well as unnecessary and sometimes speculative bits of information in between the main content; making unneeded changes to wording; forgetting italics for game titles; and re-adding previously reverted edits, despite the above reminders. Please review the messages and guidelines linked on your talk page and try to focus more on adding more notable information next time. Mario JC 01:51, 12 February 2019 (EST)
- Additionally, regarding the "their name is based on" information, most of what you've been adding is obvious. The explanation is only necessary if the origin is unclear. 11:29, 12 February 2019 (EST)
