King Kut Out.

King Kut Out is the second to last boss in Donkey Kong 64 and the boss of the area Creepy Castle.

After the Kongs managed to open the boss door in Creepy Castle they ventured inside. Unfortunately for the Kritters on the other-side of the door there was no one to guard the Boss Key kept the two of them. At the last minute the Kritters managed to build a poorly constructed cardboard cut-out of K. Rool. This fake K. Rool could somehow fire lasers from it's forehead, pop-up all over the place and it also has a high pitched crazy laugh that either comes from the cut-out itself or a nearby, hidden loudspeaker. As backup King Kut Out will sometimes send Kritters disguised as ghosts to attack the Kongs, explosive Puftups also prowl the waters surrounding the battle arena.

In order to combat King Kut Out the Kongs must use a nearby Barrel Cannons to blast into the cut-out, each hit will damage the poorly constructed boss and cause it's limbs to fall off. After being hit several times King Kut Out will begin to pop-up and down at a much faster rate and will make a holographic and shadowy decoy of itself. Eventually King Kut Out will be destroyed by the Kongs constant barrage of attacks and the Kongs will claim the Boss Key hidden in Creepy Castle.

Trivia

  • King Kut Out is sometimes referred to as Cardboard K. Rool, due to a mistake in Prima's strategy guide for Donkey Kong 64.
