Trivia
- Tails was thought to be an unlockable character, along with Sonic, in Super Smash Bros. Melee, but this turned out to be an April Fool's prank set up by Electronic Gaming Monthly (a magazine).
- Tails was originally planned to be one of Japanese mythology's tanukis (his current design is based on the kitsune, another animal in Japan's myths), although Sega scrapped this idea in fear of people thinking that they plagiarized another video game series. Interestingly, this series was probably Mario's, considering the existence of the Tanooki Suit.
- Tails's real name, Miles Prower, is a pun on miles per hour, referencing how Sonic can move at very fast speeds.
