Big Bertha is a sub-species of Cheep-Cheep who lives deep in the sea in Super Mario Bros. 3. She carries Baby Cheeps in her mouth (for protection), and occasionally spits them out, to protect herself. Her male counterpart is Boss Bass who swims on the surface, not deep in the water like her.
A character named Big Bertha was in the Super Mario Bros. movie and, like the fish, she wore all red.
