TPP: Allow Mad Scienstein to be merged with Arewo Shitain-hakase

Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome Recently a three-part translation emerged, which translates the Wario interview seen on the official Japanese Wario Land 4 gamepage. According to the translation, one question is relayed to Arewo Shitain-hakase, instead of Wario. And this particular line was stated:

Oh! My name is Professor Shitain! I also appeared in Wario Land 3! So of course you know me well! What? You never heard of me?

As far as I know, this is the only source which officially confirms that Mad Scienstein and Arewo Shitain-hakase are the same character (although it can be inferred anyway through their near-identical appearance).

A merge would allow all three varying appearances of the character (the first being in the 1992 game Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru, as confirmed here) to be linked together and presented in one "History" section. But I'm hesitant to go and merge the articles without a consensus. And perhaps there is another factor to consider that I didn't think of, or another source out there which states something different,

If there's a source that confirms that the two are one and the same, is a proposal necessary? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 19:55, 5 October 2016 (EDT)

As I stated in the proposal, I'd rather have confidence in the merge through a proper consensus. And it's a good chance to allow for any valid opposals, because I'm not very familiar with the character outside of Wario Land 4, and I am also not informed about what any Wario Land 3 sources say about the alternately named character.

I'll have this merged sometime tomorrow.

Name?

Shouldn't this article be called Mad Scienstein? Policy says to use the most commonly used English name. User:Magikrazy

Yes, that would be the best thing to do. I'll take care of that soon.

This is a bit of an odd case, though, since Mad Scienstein would specifically refer to his design and role from Wario Land 3 and Dr. Mario 64, whereas the "main" (albeit non-English) name refers to the character's appearance overall in the original game and Wario Land 4. Could this be like renaming the Princess Peach article as Nurse Toadstool, or King Koopa/K. Rool as one of the one-shot disguises? LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:33, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
Not really, Nurse Toadstool isn't the most commonly used English name for Peach and it's also not the case with Bowser or King K. Room's disguises. There's nothing to suggest Mad Scienstein is simply an alter ego. Magikrazy (talk)

Alright, well since nobody has further challenged me, I'm just gonna go ahead and move it. Magikrazy (talk) 19:02, 10 February 2017 (EST)

Check that, I cannot move it, as the page already exists. Magikrazy (talk) 19:04, 10 February 2017 (EST)

I could delete the redirect, and move the page over. Would you update the links?

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 19:27, 10 February 2017 (EST)

Sorry for the delayed response, but I can definitely help with the move. What do you mean by "update the links", though? Are there templates that use this name, or are you just referring to replacing the outdated name in the article itself (when appropriate, of course)? Magikrazy (talk) 11:48, 15 February 2017 (EST)
I've Updated all the links, even the redirects! It's ready to be moved! The old page just needs deleted, but I can't do that apparently. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 1:27, 11 July 2017 (CT)
Done, thanks a lot. The names on the article itself would still need to be updated, but I could do that myself later on.

Don't worry, I got it.Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 3:07, 11 July 2017 (CT)

Inaccurate Image

The image used to show him in Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru is edited and should be replaced with an unedited one. You can tell it's edited because the character to the right of the doctor is not supposed to be there and he never appears there in the game. It's been edited to put him there, and the text may have been edited as well.

What does the scene actually look like? Can you link to an image or a video? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:41, 21 July 2018 (EDT)
This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZsNykVNiKI at 30 mins 30 seconds. The moving character is completely different to the one shown in the image. The one in the image is Prince Richard whereas in the game you play as Prince Sable. Prince Richard never goes to Nantendo FunCenter, nor is he ever playable
