- In the Super Mario Odyssey minigame Balloon World, the balloons attached with Luigi (pictured) match the colors of the Japan and PAL regions' SNES Controller and logo.
- The CD version of the song that plays in Sherbet Land from Mario Hoops 3-on-3 samples vocals from the song "Blind 2 See", from the anime Air Gear.
- Princess Peach was considered to make an appearance in Punch-Out!! as a fighter but the idea was dropped because Kensuke Tanabe opposed the thought of punching women in the game.
- On April 22, 2015, Nintendo of America's Twitter account posted a photo of a plush Waluigi riding a Wiggler with the caption "Reply WAAAA for #WaluigiWednesday. Reply 🌼 for #WiggerWednesday.", having typo'ed "Wiggler" as the slur word "wigger". The account would later delete the tweet, however.
